"I think this is an important step forward for Acro," said Fred Pain, Managing Director. "We have always implemented a good quality system and it has served us and our customers well over many years. However, going forward, we are aware that ISO9001 is increasingly important to certain parts of the market and may prove essential to our future growth."
An important area of Acro's work has been in the machining of specialist metals such as titanium, stainless and monel, hard metals that are often used in safety critical applications such as the nuclear industry and oil exploration.
"We expect that having ISO9001 certification will help us retain our customers at the safety critical end of the market, as well as opening some doors to new projects, " said Fred Pain.
Over the past few years Acro has invested heavily in a range of new machinery that includes a 3D Machining Centre capable of rapidly machining complex components direct from computer generated design files.
"Having a small, expert team of engineers and broad range of very powerful hi-tech production machinery, we are able to compete at the highest level”, said Fred Pain. "This enables us to keep our labour costs down, so that we can convincingly compete with the likes of China."
